¹ Kii December

 

 It’s that time of the year again😄. Depending on your outlook of how 2020 has been , December has either felt like it’s been a long time coming or  like it has arrived so quickly , or both , who knows? 

What do you like most about this month ? Maybe it’s finally closing school and getting to spend more time with family ? Or the gifts under the tree on the 25th ? Or maybe just the idea that another year has finally reached its culmination ? There are endless sources of joy and love during this season and it all depends on where you’re looking.

If I’m being honest I haven’t really liked the holiday season in the past. Shocking ? Well that’s just me , or rather, that was me. In some way I think our expectations for the holiday season sometimes, or for me at least, exceed reality and this is not saying that we should be expectant but it’s just saying that sometimes things just don’t go as planned. I don’t even need to get into that given the unpredictability of this year lol. 

So does that mean all the joy of the season is lost when our expectations don’t line up with reality? Of course not ! We all have expectations. Some people want the PS5 others want the Iphone 12 , some want to finally reconnect with family they haven’t seen in a while , some want to share holiday cards and some just want to escape the stress of every day life and stay indoors, snuggled up with the people they love. 

I know this sounds weird but notice how all of our expectations fit into a love language or two. In fact, it’s not weird at all because whether it’s receiving gifts, spending quality time with family or hugging a loved one, the great equaliser of all these is love. That’s what this time of the year reminds me of. We all want to experience love and somehow this time of the year happens to be one of those times when love is in abundance. We want to make memories, sing songs, cook food (emphasis on this one) and all else that helps us express love to the next person.

So here’s what I think, it’s somewhat likely that there will be some things that won’t go as planned for you lol but when these eventualities happen, choose to find an alternative. Don’t get too tripped up about the things that don’t go as planned, choose love instead. Ask yourself how you can express genuine care for your loved ones and everyone else around you. There’s a lot of love to go around and this post is my expression of mine to you!♥️
