Everything You Need

In the society we live in today, there’s a certain idea that is constantly being marketed to us, the idea that we need more. It seems that now more than ever, the concept of contentment is being diluted. The definition of living the dream has become one that is constantly changing and evolving with the advancement of technology and human life in general. This has led me to wonder if we as a society will ever believe that we have everything we need to thrive in this life.

I am the type of person who likes to have everything I need at any given point in time in order to feel like I’m being the most effective I can be. I have observed in myself a tendency to feel like I don’t have enough of something(s) to move forward in a certain direction. I remember this being the case when I was debating when to start sharing my creations with the world. Although now it happens less, in the past I would give many reasons as to why I wasn’t giving something a try which honestly were just a bunch of excuses.

I know that in these days, where upgrading and getting the latest resources are things that have become normal, it can feel like what we currently have or possess is just not enough. Often, we may feel the pressure of presenting a certain image to the world of who we are. We might even think that anything less than the idea we have in our minds of what we need won’t cut it. It’s the ever so familiar feeling of not having enough. This is something that has become normal of our society, further contributing to the dilution of contentment.

While having a conversation with my best friend, I was trying to formulate the idea that this post was going to present. I ended up thinking, how often do we feel like we don’t have enough of what we need to do what we need to do in each season of our lives? For me the answer was simple, countless of times. While there are times that I legitimately do not have what I need to push forward, most times I at least have the tools to get me what I need.  And I think that’s the idea that this post rests on. The fact that while ideally it can seem that we don’t have what we need, we most certainly may have the tools to arrive at such a place.

Due to my belief system, I cannot help but believe that just being alive itself is proof that there is a purpose that my life and your life serves in the current moment. I believe in the idea that God will only be done working in and through you and I on this earth when we cease to exist. And if that is the case, I believe that the things that we need in order to fulfil our purpose in this life are always within our reach. It may just take more time for us to realise it.
