3,2,1 … Happy new year! *Cue fireworks display*. *Rewind to 3 hours earlier*. Well, we did it. We finally reached day 366. At last we can finally say goodbye to the year 2020. A year which might find itself in the books for many reasons.
While scrolling through my social media, I ran into a number of 2020 highlights posts so I thought in a way I could do the same. Like I’ve echoed in one or two of my previous posts, I personally think there’s been a number of positive takeaways from this year. A lot has been shared and learned and I personally feel like I have a better understanding of the value of life on Earth.
Where do I even start? January brought preparations for uni life. I’ll be honest I wasn’t really looking forward to the university life but I went with it anyway. February was the month when I made my first TV appearance (S/O to Jack and Julian). It was also the month when I started my four year degree program. March , April, May and June came with the reality of social distancing and self quarantine. These months were probably the hardest but also an important time for introspection. July, August and September were full of birthday celebrations.July was actually the month I started this blog. September also came with the return to physical classes. October was a reality check into my academics. November was the last month of a really challenging semester. And here we are, December; the final level to what has been an interesting and challenging 12 months.
I noticed that the more I thought about what this year had to offer, I found a number of good things. Mostly though, I feel like the biggest takeaways have been found in the in betweens.
As far as what this year has taught me, I’ve learnt that people are very important to ones own stability. I met a lot of great people this year. People that I didn’t think I’d be close too. People that opened my eyes to the fragility and complexity of life. People that were there for me when I was at my weakest.
I’m grateful for the people that I have in my life and you should be too. I don’t think anyone can claim to have survived this year without having the support of the people around them. I don’t see how that would be possible. The very fact that people choose to stick around even when they know how messed up we are is both inshore of amazing. I think that has been the themes of most if not all my posts in this series.
At the end of the day, life is meaningless without the connections we make. I’m grateful for the lessons I learned this year and I’m grateful for the moments I shared with the amazing people I met. Happy new year! Love y’all!
Hey ! I can’t express how thankful I am for y’all’s support. I didn’t think I’d get this far when I started this blog. I wish you a fruitful 2021 ! Happy new year !
Life’s meaningless without connection indeed.
